Mobile17.com is a website created by its founder Ben Guild at the age of seventeen. The founder says, “I started Mobile17 when I was just 17-years-old… hence the name, ‘Mobile 17′… it began as an idea for a simple, web-based way to create your own ringtones and graphics… for free… without all that hassle.” The website allows users to create ringtones and graphic images that can instantly be sent to their mobile phones free of charge. What you just need to do is create an account by adding your phone type, number and network provider. When you have done this you can instantly look for mp3 songs on the net or on your pc and make it as your ringtone. You can even create the stop and end points for your personalized new tone. Once this is done you can either choose to pay $1.00 to have the ringtone sent immediately or wait 60 minutes for it to arrive without you paying anything. Mobile17 promises to provide the state of the art technology for you to use and create your own ringtone by using any mp3 file as a ringtone. It also has features like uploading photos, cropping, rotating and making an artwork of it. Mobile17 not only provides for carriers in the US but supports 94% of phones over 200 plus countries around the world. |

Mobile17 is a site that offers more than just the usual set of options and features. Instead of merely structuring a ringtone-by-order service that sells prefabricated tones, it capitalizes on users’ creativity and personalities by giving them the elbow room to use state of the art tools to create, upload and use their own mobile content. First launched as SmashTones back in 2005, the service allows users to create ringtones and wallpaper at no charge, making it extremely budget-friendly without sacrificing flexibility. Mobile17 processes the request with no fees except possibly SMS/MMS reception. As a result, the main inconvenience at this point is that most sent content takes a few minutes to be received, but users have sometimes had to wait for about an hour before receiving their content. Still, all things considered, you get what you pay for. Even this small hiccup has not prevented SmashTones/Mobile17 from being spotlighted in Sarah Lane’s weekly “Damn Good Downloads” segment, and in such publications as The Boston Globe and Popular Science. |

Company Profile:

This site started as SmashTheTONES. This prototype project was founded by Ben Guild at the age of 17. This company to this day has come a long way supported by advertising and optional premium-services. From the word of Ben Guild, “we’ve come a long way from our original format and have helped millions of customers create mobile-content they truly desire …without searching the web or pay exorbitant-fees to obtain.” The original ’smashTheTONES’ back then was very fast. There was actually no wait time for your ringtone to be sent to your phone. When it became so famous that traffic burst, it had to use a queue based system. This system is still what Mobile17 uses today. |

Free site, and only takes 30-90 min for the site to deliver the file to your phone or email. You can also choose which section of the song you\’d like.” “Great site for making ringtones and it is free.” “This is a great website! You can create your very own cell phone media, including creating ringtones! All you need is the mp3s!” Posted on http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/mobile17.com/ |
