New York – Glee, Fox’s smash hit musical soap, has reached another top of the charts with Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”. It debuted at number 1 in sales (digital track). This is actually the first time Glee is able to land a number 1 spot in digital sales. Their ever famous version of “Don’t Stop Believin’” reached number 2 in digital sales back in May of 2009 but this “Teenage Dream” has certainly put them on top. It has impressively sold 214,000 tracks, the highest debut week for Glee to date.
Glee was able to overtake James Brown for having the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Last month Billboard reported that Glee replaced The Beatles for the No 3 spot in most entries while James Brown was at No 2. James had 91 entries. Just this week, Glee songs appeared on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, making their entries 93 all in all. Billboard said, only the king Elvis Presley has more entries in the Hot 100 chart than Glee with 108 entries.
Now, Glee’s version of Cee-Lo Green’s “Forget You” and “Singing In the Rain/Umbrella” mash up immediately soared to the top 2 spots in iTunes Top Chart. Uploaded in YouTube, these performances have more than a million hits already. Glee also will release this week their Christmas Album which will showcase the cast singing 12 holiday classics with the special appearance of KD Lang. The special episode for Christmas will air on Tues, Dec. 7 at 8pm on Fox.
Today, Glee songs have been digitally downloaded as videos and ringtones. There are about 17 million downloaded songs to date. There are over 6.5 million albums sold. Here is the List of Glee Songs for Season 2 you might want to consider your ringtone:
