Nokia’s C5: C Sharp!

clip_image0022010 has emerged as a great year for new mobile phone models, although this is more of the same progression from previous years, which has followed a great path from oversized units with limited functionality to streamlined new models that offer almost infinite possibilities. Nowadays mobile phone manufacturers are falling all over themselves trying their best to outdo one another in offering sleek and sophisticated new phone models that pack in a lot of features and do it well. While some manage to pull it off with aplomb, some have trouble getting out of the starting gate and reaching the finish line.

Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has generally tended to fall into the first type of manufacrurer. They have always excelled at producing mobile phone units that blend ease of use with diverse and versatile functionality. Prominent in mobile phone manufacturing circles since the late 1990s, Nokia have always managed to promote a sense of user-friendliness and flexibility into their various mobile models, all the while pushing the envelope with divisions like the ExpressMusic series. While not every move they make is a success – certain models have underperformed and some take more than one try to perfect – Nokia have generally been able to balance technological innovation with user-focused sensibility.

Right off the bat, the C5’certainly gives the appearance of a sleek and attractive new model that makes the most of its predecessors’ looks, with a 16-million-color, 2.2-TFT-screen inch display and a simple but effective layout of traditional Nokia keys. Under the hood it’s more of the same goodness as the feature-rich C5 is loaded with 50MB of internal memory, good for a near-unlimited phonebook capacity and a call record that keeps 30 days worth of calls. Further expansion can be done using the usually-included 2GB memory card, or anything up to 16GB worth of extra microSD card memory.

Seemingly significantly more powerful than its closest physical match, the 6300, the C5 has a very fast and colorful interface that has intuitively placed shortcuts at the bottom of the main screen, which is useful for accessing the multitude of apps that the phone packs in. This includes a lot of entertainment features, such as stereo FM and a powerful little media player that supports MP3, Wav, eAAc+, WMV, MP4, H.264 and H.263. There is also a good number of enjoyable built-in game apps; more can be downloaded to maximize this feature as well. Playback is

The users can enjoy loads of entertainment features in the handset. The camera quality is quite reasonable in this range of phone. It is also loaded with stereo FM with RDS and a music player that can play diverse files such as MP3/ WAV/ eAAC+/ WMV. The video lovers can enjoy video playback, which is capable of playing MP4/ H.264/ H.263. The handset features some good built in games, while one can download some exciting ones as well. As a phone, the C5 works well by supporting quad-band GSM 850,  900, 1800 and 1900, as well as dual band 3G HSDPA 900/2100.
