Mobile content has always been a strong performer in the commodities department, especially over the course of the last ten or so years where mobile phones have all but integrated themselves seamlessly into everyone’s lives. Once only status symbols for the moneyed and contact necessities for those in high-pressure, high-contact and long-distance occupations, mobile phones have become hot personal items that everyone uses for a variety of formal and informal purposes. Along with this growth in mobile technology, mobile content – graphics as wallpapers, sounds and sound clips as ringtones and so on – has also been on a consistent rise, and despite analyst suggestions that the peak may have been reached and in fact passed, mobile content continues to perform reasonably well.

Among the strongest mobile content is mobile music, which has undergone quite the revolution in the last few years in blending the mobile content industry with the music industry. Offering a near-endless source of artists and songs to turn into popular ringtones and full song downloads, the music industry has been witness to multiple partnerships between companies that have done fairly well. One of the latest developments involves leading mobile social network MocoSpace and award-winning mobile service provider Nellymoser, as they have tied up to launch a unique new foray into mobile music called MocoSpace Music.

MocoSpace Music is projected to be available to US carriers by Fall this year, and a wide range of smartphones and feature phones is seen to be supporting it upon release or shortly thereafter. The application is projected to be a user-friendly, easily navigated one offering a wide range of features and providing an entry point for music fans to discover and access new releases from their favorite artists. Beyond merely keeping up to date on new mobile music entries, fans will also be able to also follow their favorite artists on MocoSpace Music, with access to video interviews with their idols and photo slideshows from the hottest music events, and a variety of ringtones available for download and purchase.

MocoSpace has expressed a keen level of interest in the partnership with Nellymoser, with a statement from MocoSpace CEO and Co-Founder Justin Siegel stating that “music on mobile is about discovery and sharing” and that “Nellymoser has developed one of the best application in the market for both,” Siegel goes on to proudly reiterate that MocoSpace continues to answer to its user base’s desires and demands, as “our users have let us know that music is an important part of the MocoSpace experience, so this is a great first step in helping define what mobile music is all about.”

For their part, Nellymoser also recognizes MocoSpace’s social network’s benefits for those in the music business. Founder and CEO John Puterbaugh has stated that “MocoSpace provides a vibrant mobile community that includes music taste makers and active participants that lends itself to music and artist discovery,” and goes on to specify that teaming up with MocoSpace is an ideal way to spread the word about music. He said that attaching music applications to the community will enable us to demand for music and video content while at the same time being able to create an opportunity to bridge created content by users and professional produced music and media.
