As Christmas is moving closer and closer, people feel the spirit of Christmas just around the corner. People not just but early Christmas presents this early, due to the black Friday sale last weekend but people have also been trying to make almost everything they have with a little tinge of Christmas. Truly, we just have a couple more weeks to go before Christmas and Mariah Carey has stayed and continues to stay on the Ringtone charts for 21 weeks and counting with her classic song “All I Want For Christmas”.
With Mariah’s recent incedent of tumbling down while singing on stage in her concert recently, it seems she is not about to falter but continue her steady pace of staying on the charts until Christmas is over. Currently, Mariah’s All I Want for Christmas is at number 30 on the Ringtone Charts (from last week’s 35). She has stayed there for not just a week but 27 weeks and counting. From the trending we see, and the spirit of Christmas, she has jumped to at least 5 positions higher. The song has peaked at number 2. With, a couple more weeks to go before Christmas, the song might even reach its peak spot or even number 1 spot in the charts.
All I Want For Christmas is You is a song released by Mariah in her fourth studio album, Marry Christmas. It was released under Columbia Records back in November 1, 1994. It was the lead single of the album. It was written by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanaseiff. Walter was also the co arranger and producer of the album. The song conveys a woman’s desire for Christmas is to spend time with her lover instead of having fancy presents and Christmas lights allover.
The music video was done the Christmas before its release. The song has been used by many movies including Love Actually in 2003. The song continue to give everyone the feel of Christmas especially the ladies who have been longing to be with their lovers. Will Mariah continue to rise on the charts or will she fall short of her Christmas present this year?
Here are also some other artists and songs which have stayed on the charts for weeks and weeks and still continue to be heard on people’s phones as ringtones:
On top is Need You Now by Lady Antebellum which has stayed on the charts for 61 weeks. It peaked at number 1 and is currently at number 31. Next on the charts is Uncle Kracker’s Smile holding on at number 39 from last week’s number 28. It peaked at number 8. Eminem is tied with Mariah on the 27th week spot with his Not Afraid from his album Recovery. It peaked at number 2 and is currently at number 21 from last week’s number 14. Last to take note is still Eminem with his Love the Way You Lie (featuring Rihanna) staying at number 10 and has been in the charts for 22 weeks.
