Mobile media has been a recognized commodity for quite some time, and companies have worked hard almost round the clock to provide users with great content to purchase, order and download. The mobile and music industries have even arrived at a strong, profitable symbiosis with the music industry’s many companies supplying mobile media providers with great volumes of artist albums that can be turned into full-track downloads and ringtones, as well as ringback tones that play over a phone, audible to the caller instead of announcing the call to the phone owner. The latter has emerged as a strong commodity on its own in the wake of ringtones’ slowdown in terms of sales, making it a viable choice to supply to companies for advertising purposes.
This is something that is now being undertaken by Livewire Mobile. Creators of a sophisticated integrated suite of services that includes ringtones, mobile music in full track format, ringback tones, video downloads, and a fully integrated mobile storefront, Livewire Mobile have established themselves as a company that brings mobile personalization to companies and users in a user-friendly manner that helps drive the increased usage and adoption of the services. As such, it comes as no surprise that since their start in the business, LiveWire Mobile have made a name for themselves as a world leader in providing mobile personalization services.
Now, the leader in ringback technology and integrated mobile personalization services has announced a new advertising service rooted in ringback tones and set to provide wireless carriers with a great new way to raise revenue and potentially increase consumer loyalty to their brand. The RingSpot service is a fully opt-in service that lets carriers and operators offer their customers the choice to replace the standard ring for callers with a short, clever marketing message from a number of sources – from local merchants to national-level advertisers. Callers can press a button to be given more information via a text message sent to them after the call.
The RingSpot service will be working off the MyCaller platform to provide a number of high-value services, such as DTMF Call to Action and Ad Stations. The former uses the mobile phone’s DTMF tones to allow callers to respond to the call to action posed by an ad, in order to learn more about the product or service or have information on it sent to their phone or email inbox. The latter is an opportunity for carriers to create a set of rotating ad spots, targeted to play to different subscriber groups base on either time of day or subscriber demographics.
LiveWire Mobile, Inc. has expressed confidence in the performance of the new service, and the way that it will expand on LiveWire Mobile’s contribution to mobile media. CEO Matthew Stecker has stated that “RingSpot is all about personalization and viral marketing on the device that consumers feel highly connected to. Overall, the Ringback tone market, which LiveWire Mobile helped to create nearly eight years ago, is growing rapidly around the world due to its extreme popularity with consumers.”
