Expect More Fun from Apple’s New iPad

When Steve Jobs announced the release of Apple’s new iPad, people saw this as a savior of the traditional media. People anticipate and expect a lot from the new iPad. After its release, was Apple able to deliver a new experience to consumers?

The new iPad promises to deliver a new experience in mobile content especially in the world of film, gaming, music, publishing and surfing the web. Everything is enhanced especially social networking tools. With its 9.7 inch touch screen web connectivity is up to its full effect. It is almost as big as your ultra portable 10.1 inch netbook.

After its release the iPad was able to sell 450,000 units and notching 3.5 million downloads in iPad applications. Along with it 600,000 iBook downloads. No wonder media giants are betting on the success of this new device. The most downloaded contents are ABC, USA Today, and the Weather Channel. Because of this, rivals are introducing new competing apps. Almost everyone is betting that iPad will succeed in making things new.

IPad also has introduced mobile marketing possible. It has set a new channel to interact with consumers through personalized ads. Jason Yim, the founder and CEO of Trigger says “The iPad platform is so new that nobody understands what all the marketing opportunities are–we’re learning along with our clients.” Even if this is the case he still believes that iPad is of great potential in marketing to the public. He further says that the consumers as of great value since they are always hungry for new content. What sets this new device apart from other marketing channels is its capacity to integrate ads with their applications. Apple promised to give rich media ads that would keep you still in the application instead of directing you to another window. That has been the common problem in advertising before, the ad will take you away to another place whereby you have to leave the application. This makes the ad less effective since the consumer would opt to just stay in the app. iAds mobile advertising network was able to figure out a way on how to integrate the ad into the app without transporting you somewhere else. iAds thinks that this feature will make people more interested in clicking the ads.

How is it different from your PC and your smartphone? Unlike the PC which is meant to do research, homework and other professional tasks and your smartphone which is still primarily for communication, the iPad is specifically optimized to let the consumer have an experience of entertainment. This device is not to be another PC or another smartphone but an entertainment device like no other. Interactivity and gameplay and the main contents which the iPad promises to provide. Its size is so perfect for leisure that consumers would want to engage in them. Literally fitting your lap, you can watch the latest movie or play your favorite online or offline game.
