Be the Creator… of Ringtones

While once they were merely large, space-eating blocks of plastic that were barely worth the radiation emission it cost to make a phone call from anywhere on the road, mobile phones have shed this image many times over to reinvent themselves time and again. Now mobile phones are known for so much more than just allowing a user to make or take calls on the go – they have become flashy, sleek personal items that are extensions of their user’s personality, whether by playing a ringtone based on their user’s latest musical favorite or by running applications that are customized to cater to their user’s variety of needs.

Along with many others, a mobile content provider named Bizmosis has sought to blend those last two ideas by launching a new application based entirely on allowing users to create and customize ringtones of their own from a variety of pre-recorded sound clips and other material. Bizmosis is a mobile app developer based in Atlanta, GA, whose main goal for their applications is twofold: to win sales and to generate interest in new technological innovations by creating breakthrough mobile apps for their consumers.  Their latest shot at doing just that is a new application for Apple’s popular iPhone, called Ringtone Creator.

As the name suggests, Ringtone Creator basically allows users to create customized ringtones of their own on their iPhone, then upload them to iTunes to be synced. The method and results of ringtone creation are versatile with this app as well – a user can record a ringtone using the iPhone speaker, or go with any of 50 pre-recorded voices that come with the app. The preset voice recordings are of high sound quality and provide a variety of voice styles and “characters”, whether it’s the professional-sounding newscaster or the rootin’, tootin’ cowboy, a mob boss, or even the diabolical evil genius. The personalization options are almost endless, and make selecting a specific ringtone – or even recording your own – for your boss, best friend, coworker, or mother-in-law as entertaining as it is easy. Ringtone Creator can then upload the created ringtones to iTunes, making them available for free sharing with other iPhone users whether they have copies of Ringtone Creator or not.

Bizmosis is confident that the new app will cater effectively to users of varied interests and styles. In the words of Ryan Turner, Bizmosis’ Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder, the app changes and charges up the landscape of the iPhone with “a sense of excitement and collective entertainment” thanks to its free sharing potential, and breaks new ground considering that Ringtone Creator “is the only application of its kind that is easy to use… [and] innovative.” He recognizes that the convenience and ease of use of the app are among the things that will make it popular – confidence echoed by CEO Keith Landers, who suggests that the app will place the ringtone at the center of the iPhone’s use by making the ringtone “the most recognizable – and memorable – part”.
