Malaco and m-Wise Bring Pay-Per-Download Ringtones

The mobile content market continues to move forward, with users seeking more and more content to personalize and customize their mobile phone experience. Even as technology makes access to mobile content easier and more affordable, companies are working almost round the clock to come up with fresh ideas and approaches – and, of course, fresh content – for their avid followers to take and make use of on their own mobile phones. New websites, new artists, new styles and new deals between mobile carriers and service providers and record labels keep producing new ringtones and new mobile music content, all in the name of maximizing the opportunity to cater to demand.

One such collaboration that has been a highlight of the year is that between Malaco Music Group and m-Wise Inc. to provide a pay-per-download ringtone service. Gospel and R and B titan Malaco Music Group’s diverse more-than-Southern music offerings blending with m-Wise’s impeccable MOMA system is seen to be a strong combination that could stand to deliver similarly strong performance in ringtone sales. Malaco’s IT Director Burton Doss has expressed enthusiasm for this new venture, saying that “Malaco has been looking for a technology partner who can provide not only ringtones to our customers, but also full track downloads and there is no partner better than m-Wise Inc. in the US.”

For their part, m-Wise is reciprocating the enthusiasm and looking positively at their partnership. Leo Giel, m-Wise’s VP for North America Sales, has said that “m-Wise, is excited to partner with Malaco” – and while Giel acknowledges that ”Gospel, Southern, Urban, Blues, and R&B… are all new genres for us,” he is quick to add that Malaco’s strength in these genres means that “there is no better partner for this genre.”

The partnership with Malaco Music Group to provide pay-per-download ringtone services is seen to maximize the demand for Malaco’s artist and title library, a time-tested bank with award-winning and Billboard-chart spot-holding performers and songs. Malaco Music Group has established itself as a provider of some of the best Gospel, Southern, Urban, R and B, Soul and Blues music, as well as an influential force helping develop Southern music. They also have a strong online presence on the Malaco website, featuring an impressive 2000 average daily hit count even before the deal – and possibly more as the ringtone offer is promoted through the website, Twitter account and free-ringtone-code coupons included in physical CDs.
